NPOV? edit

Sorry to put a downer on this. I really do love their sound, but do we need hyperbole such as saying that Spiers "instinctively" played Morris. Get real! And where does the nickname "Squeezy" Spiers came from? and "Scratchy" Boden? Is this a private joke? Ogg 08:48, 8 October 2005 (UTC)Reply

Perhaps "instinctively" (not my term) is a bit precious, but not exactly hyperbolic, or "unreal". He was brought up in the Morris tradition so that was what he played. Delete it if it really bothers you. As for the nicknames, you'd have to ask them! Try visiting their website meanwhile? Flapdragon 11:38, 8 October 2005 (UTC)Reply

Visited the website but failed to find any reference to Squeezy or Scratchy. If the nicknamed isn't used widely, then it should not be mentioned. Ogg 11:49, 8 October 2005 (UTC)Reply

It's mentioned at http://www.squeezy.fsnet.co.uk/spiers_boden/links.html (you may also notice something about the URL itself) as well as in their stage act. As for where the name comes from, well, he plays the accordion you see. No offence intended, but couldn't you have found out this much for yourself? A quick Google search would have sorted it out long since. Flapdragon 12:31, 8 October 2005 (UTC)Reply

Still not convinced. The page quoted above makes no reference to Squeezy or Scratchy, other than in the URL. Also the new album is strange. The price label calls it "Songs" and so does the amazon website, yet the actual cover of the CD, and the spine calls it "Tunes" i.e. exactly the same name as the previous album. Is this a mistake, or some kind of post-modernist irony? Ogg 16:19, 19 October 2005 (UTC)Reply

Don't know about Scratchy, but Squeezy is regularly referred to as "Squeezy". And yes, the spine of Songs does say Tunes and it is a printer's error, according to Squeezy. "Visited the website but failed to find any reference to Squeezy or Scratchy. If the nicknamed isn't used widely, then it should not be mentioned." lol @ the internet generation - if it ain't on the website it doesn't exist :) They're a folk duo who tramp around lots of small gigs all over the country, there's more to them than what's on the website.

I'm 15 years late to the party here, but if you want references to Squeezy John, try his website, his Facebook and his Twitter. Monxton (talk) 16:54, 1 September 2020 (UTC)Reply

Fair use rationale for Image:Spiersandboden.JPG edit

Image:Spiersandboden.JPG is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion.
