This page should really be merged with (and redirect to) Positional astronomy?! As the article says, they are the same topic! MFago 01:52, 14 March 2006 (UTC)Reply

Wow, this merge notice has been around forever! This should really be merged with astrometry, the general name for the subject. Dr. Submillimeter 12:38, 17 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

I've merged positional astronomy to spherical astronomy (the latter name seems to be more common). Quarl (talk) 2007-02-26 00:37Z

Definition needs improvement edit

Isn't the definition in the lead sentence a bit too restrictive? Celestial coordinates are often given for an imaginary viewpoint at the Earth's center (geocentric), solar system center of mass (barycentric), etc. But the present definition refers to topocentric coordinates only. I propose something like "... the branch of astronomy concerned with measuring and predicting the positions of celestial bodies." What do you think? Paul Hirose 22:31, 15 September 2007 (UTC)

Unintentional Humor edit

I laughed out loud when I saw this. Just had to point it out.

miscategorized edit

The subject of this article is not part of astronomy. It is part of astrology (and possibly navigation. Someone with better naval knowledge than I will need to make that determination). propose the categories be revised accordingly.
