This page should exist edit

There should be an article on spectator sports. I would keep this stub awaiting the writing of such an article.Barticus88 06:48, 24 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

  • Finding no support for the merge, I'm going to pull the tag from the article. -- MarcoTolo 01:49, 24 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

This text is cynical edit

This text seems to be written by someone that doesn't like sports. I.e. it's not objective. Quotes like these makes me frown:

  • "There are also many fans that associate themselves with certain players in an effort to express their own personal values, especially when they lack credentials that would otherwise provide evidence of such"
  • "Watching a spectator sport on television is often helpful in revealing the psychological need it fills within the spectator"

I'd like a rewrite. seriema 17:04, 28 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

Spectator Sport Terms edit

As a long-time American sports fan and viewer, I have never heard those terms before. Unless they can be put into context somehow, it should be removed. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Ogro (talkcontribs) 18:34, 22 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

Agreed, these comments are not illuminating at all, and very region-centric. --Debellos (talk) 04:03, 22 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

pictures edit

I think this page is inclined too much to British sports, such as cricket or soccer.Major League Baseball gathered more than 75,000,000 spectators a year. National Football League gathered more than 60,000 spectators a game. These popular American sports are more important than British sports.--ミスターカープ (talk) 16:16, 28 May 2009 (UTC)Reply

"popular American sports are more important than British sports."

Ha ha- you just decided this? Who died and made you El Presidente?--Limericksham (talk) 17:19, 11 January 2010 (UTC)Reply

is NASCAR a sport? edit

Simple question. You'd think that not NASCAR is the sport but automobile racing or stock car racing. The sport that is held at the FIFA world cup isn't FIFA but soccer. So what do we do with this? Motorsport isn't always a spectator sport so it doesn't realy fit. Keeping NASCAR wouldn't fit either. I think the best thing is to remove NASCAR from the top alinea. Redefinition edit

Is there a way to merge the content added on September 10th with the article as it existed before that date? One source for the previous definition of spectator sport is [1]. GreekApple123 (talk) 21:50, 15 December 2020 (UTC)Reply
