Talk:Speciation (genetic algorithm)

Latest comment: 6 years ago by Mark viking in topic Selective merge

This is very well written! A welcome change from the extreme jargon on most other GA pages.

Could information on different kinds of "similarity functions" be given? I'm not informed on this particular topic, but for example, "Some similarity functions calculate the sum of the parents' genetic differences, then if the sum is greater than some threshold, returns true, otherwise false. Other similarity functions depend exclusively on a set of genes whose sole purpose is to provide speciation." This would be extremely useful and interesting to people learning about the topic and wishing to implement this.

Selective merge edit

This is to note that per the AfD outcome, I have performed a selective merge of the content of the article into Genetic algorithm#Methodology. Feel free to edit to taste. --Mark viking (talk) 18:41, 7 September 2017 (UTC)Reply
