How-to guide edit

This article is looking rather like a "how-to" guide. Wikipedia is an encyclopedic reference, not an instruction manual, guidebook, or textbook. Kenilworth Terrace (talk) 20:20, 15 August 2010 (UTC)Reply

I see your point, but I feel that because there is a surprising amount of technique to it that it warrants going into such detail, and I would further like to note the existence of articles on every Judo technique, martial arts strike, and knot(see categories for Judo technique, strikes (martial arts), and knots to see just how many there are), and note that all these articles are written similarly. This isn't so much a how-to guide, but an explanation of which methods are the most popular and common, the biomechanics behind the positions as well as the psychological aspects of each position, and various ways these are enhanced by the users. If you have any suggestions for how this could be written less like a how-to guide I would be very open to them.Wikiposter0123 (talk) 20:35, 15 August 2010 (UTC)Reply
Ok, the first paragraph sounded a lot like a how to because it was taken from a how to guide, but there are more books that are not how-to's that I will use while being careful to retain an encyclopedic tone. The first paragraph has thus been re-written and I don't think sounding like a how-to should be much of a problem going forward.Wikiposter0123 (talk) 20:46, 15 August 2010 (UTC)Reply
