This article needs more images but only of the most representative buildings for each style...Alhambra especially! How about bull rings...although maybe they need a separate article. Indeed, Moorish architecture in Spain (Al-Ándalus) deserves a good section, and Alhambra and Seville Mosque, a honour place in it. Bull rings could be in other article, mentioning not only Spanish, but also Spanish American. A mention could be done in this article. About Las Ventas, as Plaza de España in Seville, Gran Teatro Falla in Cádiz, Escuelas Aguirre in Madrid and many other public and residencial buildings, they are in Neo-Mudéjar Style. In this Wikipedia, the style is mentioned in :Moorish Revival, (that comprises other 19th and 20th centuries styles worldwide), and in :Mudéjar, that was the historical style that inspired them. I think that Neo-Mudéjar also deserves an article for itself, besides a section here. Thank you for your support!--Garcilaso 11:02, 21 July 2006 (UTC)

Lead paragraph

The principle missing component to this article at this moment, besides footnotes which can follow later, is a lead section. To quote WP:LEAD: The lead section should briefly summarize the most important points covered in an article in such a way that it could stand on its own as a concise version of the article. I think that the Background section in the article now provides this introduction and could be moved to the lead at this point. Any comments before I make this move? It seems that the article is going to have an end some day! "Only" 19th and 20th centuries are empty. It is going to be an effort to abridge in a few words all the contemporary architecture of Spain. Problems of the article: The lenght of each section does not represent the importance of each style. Roman, Gothic and Romanesque are too short, and prehistory seems to be more important!. Nevertheless, I think the minima minimorum is said of each epoque. The lead of the article, although too long, has important voids. Then we have the problem of the language: The same adjetives are repeated again and again, not for being my favourites, but because I don´t know better words. A specifical problem: I intend to say Románico pleno (the fully-developed style), but neither plein nor plain seem to be satisfying. Anybody knows the correct translation?

Anyway, It seemed impossible to me to deal with such a huge article, but thank to Fayssal, Nick Boalch, DVD+R and more wikipedists, we are achieving it!!!!--Garcilaso 19:37, 2 August 2006 (UTC)

I've made some additions to the 20th/21st century bit. I know that Franco's conservatism and the poor economic conditions suppressed modern architecture from c. 1930-1970 and can't think of any significant buildings, but this is probably an oversimplification. Does anyone have any examples? We also probably need a section on the buildings that were built under franco. --Mcginnly | Natter 15:24, 19 December 2006 (UTC)

Some more potential additions to research - Plaza de España (Seville),1929 - The Museo Nacional de Arte Romano (National Museum of Roman Art) in Mérida, Spain 1980–86 , designed by Rafael Moneo (born 1937). I have widened a bit the paragraphs about the 20's and about the architecture under Franco. It is not complete, some good architects and tendences are not represented, but I will try to improve it later.--Garcilaso 11:38, 20 December 2006 (UTC)

New Pictures?

I've got some really great pictures that I took in Spain from last spring. If anybody wants to look at them for the article, just say so and I'll scale some down for uploading. Those photos can be very useful for existing or future articles about architecture of Granada and Seville or about Spanish architectural styles, as Isabelline Gothic, Mudéjar, Spanish Baroque.... You could upload them to Wikimedia Commons[1], where they can be used by other Wikipedias, too. If you let me know where they are, I could categorize and include them in appropiate articles. Fil-Hispanic Architecture?

The colonial architecture of the Philippines is not mentioned at all under the section covering Spanish Colonial architecture. I think the colonial architecture of the Philippines would qualify as "Spanish Colonial", would it not? Boreanesia 08:08, 3 May 2007 (UTC)
