POV-pushing? edit

This article is not objective; rather is a written as a POV-push for a position not normally accepted. It's not pointed out that the distance across the Virgin strait is far greater than the distances betweem the U.S. and British Virgin islands, for example. The link to the "geographically same" argument is dead as well.Ryoung122 22:17, 10 February 2010 (UTC)Reply

I trimmed out some of the POV text. Invertzoo (talk) 12:34, 1 April 2012 (UTC)Reply

Better map edit

There are a number of maps out there which could be used as the basis for a better map of the islands (showing all of the Virgin Islands; the "Spanish", American and British): [1] and [2] 72.27.94.90 (talk) —Preceding undated comment added 03:06, 11 September 2012 (UTC)Reply

Inappropriate Infobox

Surely the "infobox country" is entirely inappropriate here? As far as I can see from the article, these islands have no form of autonomy or self-rule but are simply a part of the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico - they are a geographical entity, not a political one. They are in fact two of the 78 municipilaties of Puerto Rico and both are led by elected mayors. In fact, Puerto Rico comprises an archipelago that includes the main island of Puerto Rico and a number of smaller islands, the largest of which are Vieques and Culebra. Therefore, these two islands are part of PR and should be included in the Antilles group, Puerto Rico being the smallest of the Greater Antilles, which include Cuba, Hispaniola (Dominican Republic and Haiti), and Jamaica. Therefore, there is not such thing as Spanish Virgin Islands.— Preceding unsigned comment added by 152.121.19.251 (talk) 01:44, 9 May 2013 (UTC)Reply

Is this a real thing? edit

I've never heard of 'the Spanish Virgin Islands'... and there is barely anything on them online, except for this wikipedia page. Sdrawkcab (talk) 17:14, 14 July 2019 (UTC)Reply

"Not to be confused with ... " edit

I believe it would be wise to ad a remark at the top of the article to note the distinction between the Spanish and US Virgin Islands, as the Spanish Virgin Islands are in Puerto Rico and Puerto Rico is in the US. A link to an article dealing with the colonial history of the islands as actual parts of Spain may also be warranted. Confusion with the British Virgin Islands is however less likely.
