Inaccurate map
editThe featured map is wrong to indicate the Ottoman Empire was neutral just as was Spain in World War I. While Spain in fact remained neutral, the Ottoman Empire very much came into WWI on the side of the Germans and Austria-Hungary, joining the Central Powers only a few months after Austria-Hungary declared war on Serbia (which triggered the chain reaction that became World War I); see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/World_War_I.
While I recognize that the map at issue was obtained from the referenced article, that article featured the map as a delineation of the state of affairs on the eve of the War; it does not depict the state of affairs into which the War had morphed in its final years i.e. the state of affairs the Armistice resolved.BLZebubba (talk) 09:38, 12 July 2015 (UTC)
- The map's legend and caption clearly state that it depicts the alliances that existed at the war's start. So how is it inaccurate? Srnec (talk) 18:33, 12 July 2015 (UTC)
New 'Effects' section

The result of the move request was: moved to Spain during World War I. Jenks24 (talk) 08:15, 15 August 2015 (UTC)
Spain in World War I → Spain and World War I – Spain was not in World War I. To be in a war is to take part in it, to fight, or at the very least to be the scene of fighting. Spain was neither. Srnec (talk) 18:51, 6 August 2015 (UTC)

- Support Your reasoning is oddly compelling. And well worded. Paints a picture. Hits 'em where they ain't. So, per nom. Randy Kryn 4:47, 7 August 2015 (UTC)
- Oppose the use of the American term "World War I" rather than the international term First World War. Glen Spearleat (talk) 18:12, 8 August 2015 (UTC).
- Support to alternative of Spain during World War I, which most of the country articles are at, per the template. Lugnuts Dick Laurent is dead 08:50, 9 August 2015 (UTC)
- Support per nom - Gwen's reasoning is entirely specious, as "World War I" is indeed an international term, and even if it wasn't, WP:RETAIN applies. I'd prefer Spain during World War I. Parsecboy (talk) 19:34, 13 August 2015 (UTC)
- Agree with nom (compelling, was not "in"), but prefer Spain during World War I. --SmokeyJoe (talk) 01:18, 14 August 2015 (UTC)
- Although I support "Spain during World War I" as an improvement on the current title, the reason I originally moved the page to the proposed "and" form was that the article is about Spain's relation to the war and not merely about Spain during that time period. Srnec (talk) 03:10, 14 August 2015 (UTC)
- Support alternative Spain during World War I. I take the point that this may not refer to Spain's relationship to the war in a legalistic sense, but I think there's a clear implication that this is the topic, and I think this is the most natural title. The point about First World War rather than World War I should be addressed at the relevant talk page, but currently that article is at World War I. Andrewa (talk) 21:56, 14 August 2015 (UTC)
