Removed section edit

I removed the section describing the ship as still being afloat. Not only is this information unsourced, it is also clearly wrong.

  1. The reference picture for the SSV-33, here on Wikipedia as well as on Google, show the radar dome as being infront of the forward mast. The ship on Google Maps has the radar dome behind the forward mast.
  2. The ship is docked next to a Slava class cruiser. The Slava class is listed as being 186 meters long, and the SSV-33 as being 265 meters long, or roughly 40% longer than the Slava. The ship in the picture clearly isn't 40% longer (in fact Google Earth measures it as 211 meters long)
  3. On a Google Earth image of the naval facilities of nearby Fokino, dated 23-8-07, as ship bearing much closer resemblance to the SSV-33 can be seen. It looks nothing like the ship alluded to in the removed section.
  4. On Google Earth the ship mentioned in point 4 can be seen being dismantled on images dated 17-8-10 and 12-10-11 at nearby Bolsjoj Kamen.
  5. If I had to guess, the ship alluded to is actually the Marshal Krylov, a tracking ship of the Russian navy.

Classification edit

Why is this ship classified as a command vessel when, in practice, it's a reconnaissance and missile tracking ship? - 37.190.62.90 (talk) 21:06, 7 February 2015 (UTC)Reply
