Really a subspecies?
editPer Lion#Subspecies, it seems like there's only two subspecies acknowledged nowadays, and P. l. bleyenberghi is mentioned as a "synonym" only. Both the Asiatic lion and Barbary lion are also only considered "populations". I suggest this article follows that nomenclature, and should claim only to describe a regionally significant population of Panthera leo melanochaita. –LordPeterII (talk) 14:04, 11 September 2022 (UTC)
