Requested move

South Western → South Western Trains – This is rather odd. The original South Western was a rail franchise. It is often referred to and recognised as this. It is not quite a company yet until Feb 2007. The reason for the move is so that is does not get confused with compass directions, as i saw with Southeastern. But then again... Do we know yet how it will be branded? There seem to me to be a few possiblities:

• The South West Trains name will continue (as First Great Western did at the start of the Greater Western franchise_, in which case we should probably merge this article into South West Trains and update the Island Line article accordingly.
• The services of SWT and Island Line will be branded South Western Trains, in which case the article should be at South Western Trains
• The services will be branded South Western, in which case the article should be at South Western (train operating company) to match Southeastern (train operating company).

If nothing has yet been announced, then I suggest an interim name of South Western (rail franchise). Thryduulf 08:34, 26 September 2006 (UTC)

In their bid, i misread it so that Stagecoach's bid was "Stagecoach South Western Trains Ltd". See: Bids. Simply south 11:47, 26 September 2006 (UTC)

See also though the first sentence of the First Great Western article - "First Great Western is the operating name of First Greater Western Ltd". The legal name is not always the same as the operating name (cf. 'one' and London Eastern Railways Ltd). The article should be at the most common name, i.e. the operating name. Perhaps integrate anything new into South West Trains, maybe creating a section called "Franchise renewal". Then redirect this article to that. MRSC • Talk 09:45, 9 February 2007 (UTC)

I'd suggest that this is re-named into "Stagecoach South Western Trains", which is the absorbed name for SWT and Island Line, which are still running under their respective brandnames... Tubechallenger 15:18, 9 February 2007 (UTC)
