Talk:South Wales Fire and Rescue Service

Latest comment: 3 years ago by 10mmsocket in topic Fire stations

I'm probably writing this in the wrong place for which I appologize. I served in the Glamorgan & Mid Glamogan Fire Service (Pontypridd & Aberdare) from 1971-75 (Fm Skiggs 65780) I transfered in from London (LFB) and eventually back to London (Beautiful people but I couldn't stand the weather) I am trying to get a photograph of the "Diamond T" breakdown vehicle that was stationed at Pontypridd at this time and of an "L4P." I am living in Australia now and have

my pool room full of fire brigade memorabilia. Anyone who remembers me or has an interest in Australia is welcome to contact me at "bobskiggs@gmail.com" — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2001:8003:6F88:F400:A511:54A8:1E41:3550 (talk) 01:07, 11 June 2018 (UTC)Reply

Fire stations edit

There is a precedent under WP:NOTDIR that says Wikipedia is not a place for exhaustive lists of things. It could very easily be argued that a list of every fire station and every single appliance including callsigns is exactly that and I broadly support the idea. It is partly for that reason, but mainly because of the huge amount of unsourced content / original research that I removed the existing list of fire stations and appliances.

I now see that there is a verifiable reference which lists the stations and their duty systems. There are numbers also which may indicate the station callsign. I would exercise caution though as a) it may be out of date by now and b) it is an orphaned document that doesn't seem to be linked to any more from the service's website. Plus of course there's then the whole WP:NOTDIR thing again. Food for thought though if anyone fancies summarising the stations and duty systems in a way that is both verifiable and encyclopaedic. --10mmsocket (talk) 12:58, 19 April 2021 (UTC)Reply
