Geology Section
editAs of today, I started work on the Geology section. It's current form is incomplete as I don't really have the time or energy to finish the whole section. As for citations, there will be some, but I plan to complete them when I get all the content down that I hope to add. Jamincan 03:06, 1 November 2006 (UTC)
Photos
editI've been working on finding some public domain photos of the river; however, it seems almost impossible to find freely available photos from Nahanni. I did contact someone on a forum I'm a member of who responded positively to providing photos that could be licensed under the GPDL; however, I have yet to hear back from him. Anyway, I was thinking that a photo of Virginia Falls would be ideal for the main graphic in the infobox. A photo of the tufa mounds might be handy for the geology section. Lastly, I think a photo of one of the canyons, ideally First Canyon with Pulpit Rock, would be also be a suitable photo for the article. If we could get that photo with some people canoeing or rafting down the river in the photo, it would be a good addition to the Economy section when it is completed. The rafters/canoers would also provide a good sense of scale to the canyon.
For the course section, a map of the river and its watershed would be handy. I have seen maps that also show the boundaries of the Park overlayed on the watershed, which I found to be a useful illustration. I might be able to get my sister to produce some illustrations of some of the geological processes that went into forming some of the distinctive features of the river; although, I suspect they would be more useful in detailed articles on that particular topic. Vgtz (talk) 02:47, 13 October 2014 (UTC)== Jean Poirel ==
The article says "Jean Poirel from Montreal jumped at its source 500 km north of Yellowknife," for one thing the South Nahanni River is west of Yellowknife not north. And 43 people died on the river before it was explored? Really? The whole section is uncited and should probably be removed. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Vgtz (talk • contribs) 02:43, 13 October 2014 (UTC)
