In 2005, the National Park Service conducted a volume study of Lake Conemaugh (or, known by the South Fork Fishing and Hunting Club as Conemaugh Lake) as it existed in the 1880s under the Club's ownership. This GIS study showed that in times of "high water", the lake had a perimeter of 6.404993 miles, and a volume of 14,017,749.03 tons. This study should be available the website for Johnstown Flood National Memorial at www.nps.gov/jofl Hope this helps researchers. Doug Richardson Park Ranger, Johnstown Flood National Memorial

Photo image date edit

The photo used for the South Fork Dam showing it after the flood had happened, is dated for 1885, yet the flood happened May 31, 1889. Revised the photo date to reflect the disaster date.
