Talk:Sorbus

"Mountain ash" is not strictly a North American common name; I checked numerous British references and many (in fact the majority) list the name as an alternative to "rowan" in many British references. MrDarwin 17:12, 12 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

I think the part about the finnish wine should be moved to a Sorbus disambiguation page really.

I found a reference to the genus Sorbus on the wikipedia page for Sorbitol, which states that Sorbitol "also occurs naturally in many stone fruits and berries from trees of the genus Sorbus." and gave this reference: "Lehninger Principles of Biochemistry, Nelson and Cox, Fourth Edition"... I would like to see a link on the Sorbus page to the Sorbitol article, if it would be appropriate. Maybe it could be listed at the bottom of the Sorbus page, under a "See also" section? I simply don't have time to figure out how to do it, at the moment. If anyone can, thanks! Fallendarling (talk) 11:55, 24 June 2010 (UTC)Reply

Taxonomy edit

There appears to be a problem with the taxonomic tree referenced here. ITIS entries for Sorbus americana make no reference to this subfamily or subgenera. "Rowan" does not appear to enter into this species or many other species in the genus Sorbus.Nickrz 21:49, 26 October 2007 (UTC) [1]Reply

Merge with Rowan? edit

This page seems very sparse in comparison with the Rowan article which otherwise covers most of the same material. It's also confusing between multi-language articles which link from Sorbus and not from Rowan. Mathlaura (talk) 15:05, 24 September 2015 (UTC)Reply
