Why SEN is a load of rubbish — section needed!

Basically Music/Video Unlimited is a load of bollocks, like all of the SEN stuff Sony are chucking on their TV's; none of it works very well and you get the feeling the only reason it was added was so they could say they have "Smart TV" functions, whilst knowing relatively few (no one sensible, anyway) is going to use them. Not worth wasting a second of your time with, trust me after trialling the 'service' within an hour I realised it wasn't worth the bother, much too tiresome and pointless. And back went the TV to the shop. Instead went for a Mac Mini with Plex client and server into a cheaper non-smart non-Sony TV, which works flawlessly. I've recently had the best 2011 and best 2012 models; little had improved. Even the bad bug where the sound wrongly get quieter switching from Freeview SD to Freeview HD channels on the 2011 model Sony hadn't bothered to release a software update for by Jan 2013 — pretty much sums the company up these days as not bothered with customers or QoS. Hence why a section on the rubbishness of Sony should appear here, lol! Jimthing (talk) 13:13, 7 January 2013 (UTC)

Requested Edits (COI)

I’d like to bring this stub up to date and shape it into something more useful. However I have a COI as I work for a communications firm that works with Sony Entertainment Network. I've drafted the below copy as a first shot for consideration - open to feedback and collaboration. Thanks in advance to anyone who has time to jump in and help.

Sony Network Entertainment International (SNEI) is a digital media distribution company that offers streaming music, downloadable movies, games and more through the Sony Entertainment Network brand. Sony Entertainment Network users are able to use one account to access all of Sony's digital entertainment offerings via many Sony and non-Sony devices.

Sony Entertainment Network operates three services: PlayStation Network for games, Video Unlimited for movies and TV shows and Music Unlimited for subscription-based streaming music.

Video Unlimited

Video Unlimited, available in ten countries, allows users to purchase or rent downloaded or streaming videos. Recent and classic films and TV shows comprise the majority of offerings. Purchases and rentals can be made online through the Sony Entertainment Network store, through the PlayStation Store on PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4 consoles and PlayStation Vita, through the Video Unlimited store on many Sony Blu-ray disc players and Bravia TVs or via an Xperia smartphone and tablet app.

Music Unlimited

Music Unlimited is a cloud-based digital music service available in 19 countries that hosts a catalog of over 25 million songs. The music is licensed from all major US labels, prominent independent labels, and other major publishers. There are two subscription levels: Access, which allows for listening to all available music on Mac, PC, PlayStation 4 or PlayStation 3; and Premium, which adds availability on mobile devices such as iPhone, iPod Touch and Android-based smartphones and tablets, including Xperia, PlayStation Vita and Walkman players as well as Blu-ray players, Blu-ray home theater systems and Bravia TVs.

The article uses SEN and refers to sony cooperation, but you suggest SNEI, why is your suggestion different? Offical website appears to be sonyentertainmentnetwork.com. Shouldn't be there an article for SNEI in the first place? The third reference appears to be about a specific album, rather than outline of offers. Why did you left out the PlayMemories service? SEN/SNEI - We're using Sony Entertainment Network (SEN) here since it's the publicly-facing brand for SNEI so we felt this would be more relevant to the broad public. Hope that makes sense.

Yes, the third reference (to the Billboard story) is about a specific news announcement but references the number of countries Music Unlimited is now available in, which is why we're including it here.

PlayMemories was left out to focus on the download/subscription services.

I'm hoping to address the addition of a PlayMemories mention to the first part of the page. Basically PlayMemories Online is part of Sony Entertainment Network but the rest of PlayMemories is not. So maybe the first paragraph can be amended to end with "… and PlayMemories Online for sharing photos/videos." ChrisThilk (talk) 19:45, 30 June 2014 (UTC)

SEN folds into PSN

Following Sony's January announcement that SEN will fold into PSN [1] SONYENTERTAINMENTNETWORK.COM now points to PLAYSTATIONNETWORK.COM and BLOG.SONYENTERTAINMENTNETWORK.COM redirects to BLOG.US.PLAYSTATION.COM. Presumably this is the beginning of the end. — TPX 22:57, 3 May 2015 (UTC)
