Proposal: Merge articles and rename resulting page edit

I propose merging Song-Xia War (1040–1044), Song-Xia War (1081–1085), Song-Xia War (1113–1119), Song occupation of Tsongkha, Advance and fortify, and Yizong raids into a single article named something like Song-Xia War or Song-Tangut War

Reason: per point 4 in WP:MERGE, "Context: If a short article requires the background material or context from a broader article in order for readers to understand it." I believe the individual articles do not provide the best experience for the reader; a single article would provide context, background and flow that is absent from the individual articles and make it easier for the reader to understand the topic. Right now reading the topic feels like putting a jigsaw puzzle together, adding the needed context and background to each article would produce too much duplicate content, would result in the reader having to read the same material again, and is ultimately unnecessary in a single article.

Notifying editors who have recently edited the article in some way: @Qiushufang, Mccapra, John B123, and Jmertel23:.   // Timothy :: talk  13:55, 24 October 2020 (UTC)Reply

Discussion and comments

  • Support as nominator. Neutral as to the best name of the single article, will defer to Qiushufang on best name.   // Timothy :: talk  13:55, 24 October 2020 (UTC)Reply
  • Support It makes sense to me. Song-Xia War would probably my choice for title unless somebody with better knowledge of the subject/background thinks something else would be more appropriate. --John B123 (talk) 15:14, 24 October 2020 (UTC)Reply
I've already created a merged article at Song-Xia wars. If someone could help merge that would be great. Qiushufang (talk) 19:59, 24 October 2020 (UTC)Reply
  • Support&Suggestion @TimothyBlue:I support your plan to merge those articles into one article. It will be more comfortable and convenient for reader to understand. But, I think…Should we keep those individual article to offer a chance for some editors who have good command of this period's history to modify, enrich and correct those individual and specific articles? Maybe some readers want to know further information about one specific article instead of all. --波斯波莉斯 (talk) 04:11, 28 October 2020 (UTC)Reply
