Feedback edit

Olivia, this is a good start. The contribution could use some additional sourcing. For example, what does the research say about how is SEL used most often? What are its strengths and weaknesses? Also you write, that the components of social emotional learning "are self-awareness, self management, social awareness, responsible decision making, and relationship skills." You want to define each of these. Also, you should follow Wikipedia's style guide, when you using an acronym you stick with it, I believe. You don't go back to writing out the term after you've written the abbreviation. Cassell04 (talk) 21:34, 5 March 2021 (UTC)Reply

Is there a critical theory strand of social-emotional learning? edit

Some SEL materials seem to be related to critical theory or postmodernism. Some SEL webpages do not. I am confused whether there are two branches developing. Can anyone help find any better sources than this youtube video? Critical Education: Transformative Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) by New Discourses. I think the critical branch is called Transformative Social-emotional learning: https://www.tandfonline.com/doi/full/10.1080/00461520.2019.1623032 — Preceding unsigned comment added by Aussiewikilady (talkcontribs) 20:52, 7 March 2022 (UTC)Reply

Opening needs some work edit

Came here from a news article to see what SEL is. Since this is a project & I don't know a lot about the topic I didn't want to edit right away but the last few sentences of the opening need some work. "Many studies continue to be conducted, examining the impact of social emotional learning in school curriculum. Recent studies have found SEL to be widely beneficial, decreasing emotional stress, strengthening coping skills, and reduction in bullying, etc." "Many studies"? Not good use of wording. "Studies" is fine. "Many" is ambiguous and not backed up, it's fluff language. "Recent studies have found" Ok. Citation badly needed, it's not well addressed or sourced in the article proper. That's straight up unsourced promotional language fluffing up the topic as it stands. Those sentences could be cut without hurting the opening, as they stand they bias the whole tone of the article.
