- Does this video help? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HgijFMEVVIQ?t=15 "snipe" happens when you push a board through a thickness planer, the rollerhead connects with the front of the board and the knives will accidentally making an extra deep cut because of this "shock". Something similar will happen when your board exits the planer, the rollerhead will disconnect and the knives will make an extra deep cut at the end of the board.
