Possible Origin

Copywriter Gary Bencivenga has claimed in an interview transcribed on http://www.makepeacetotalpackage.com/clayton-makepeace/a-conversation-with-the-legendary-copywriter-gary-bencivenga-part-1.html and in a response published on http://www.understandingdad.com/quotes.html and that his father Anthony Bencivenga responded to a Kelloggs competition asking why people liked the cereal - in 50 words or less. The father submitted "I like Kellogg's Rice Krispies because it's the only cereal with that SNAP, CRACKLE and POP!". Bencivenga says that slogan won the competition. Drug reference

I've heard the rumor on multiple occasions that their names are drug references. Due to the popularity of this unsubstantiated rumor (at least among young people), could this be mentioned in the article with supportive proof that the rumor is false? JovBlackheart 13:57, 22 September 2006 (UTC)

Aliens

They're Gnomes, not Elves

I've changed all references to Snap, Crackle, and Pop being elves to ones describing them as gnomes. Despite popular misconception, the characters were always intended to be gnomes, and official promotional material (which I have referenced in the article) refers to them as gnomes. 74.131.100.85, despite his inability to think of a better screenname, is absolutely right and Wikipedia should stop hating on the gnome community. The official corporate material says they began as gnomes and then got a makeover. So Snap, Crackle, and Pop are in fact metrosexual gnomes, not elves, and Wiki should accept that.

Bizarre side-note, though: apparently User:81.132.146.170 found this out and fixed the page, only to have anonymous IPs repeatedly vandalize the page with 'elf' edits. User:74.131.100.85 sourced the gnomes, only to have another anonymous IP vandalize it to 'elf.' User:TerrorBite then mistakenly "corrected" all of the gnome references in deference to the "sourced" 'elf' and User:D Blackwell NC then replaced the source link with a citation needed tag.
