From the article, it appears the slughorn never actually existed as an instrument and was purely Chatterton's invention, later adopted by Browning (and Terry Pratchett - "It must have been a bloody big slug"). In which case, should it really be listed in the category "Early musical instruments"? (And should it be added to List of fictional musical instruments?) Daibhid C (talk) 21:49, 5 January 2011 (UTC)

Mention is made in Ian Mortimer's The Time Traveler's Guide to Medieval England (p. 250) of a crumhorn, described as "A curved shawm with a mouthpiece over the reed, allowing it to be used by men on horseback (otherwise they would break the reed with every jolt)." 3johnl (talk) 10:24, 3 April 2019 (UTC)
