Removed edit
I've removed the last Paragraph since it (incorrectly) assumes that every musical bit is written in a single scale.
That fact that it doesn't make the paragraph's contents self implied.
Over vs slash edit
Although you often hear C/G read as "C slash G", I'd still prefer the old-fashioned (?) pronounciation "C over G", which really has its charms. It should at least be mentioned. 193.128.87.36 (talk) 16:39, 14 December 2007 (UTC)
Is this right? edit
"By placing the third of the V chord in the bass, a descending scale, also known as a walkdown, is created in the bass. For example, in the key of G major this would be the chords G, D/F♯, Em."
I don't know much about this (hence my reading this page), but my current understanding makes me think this is wrong. Wouldn't we need to invert both the third and fifth to get a D/F# for the fifth chord?
