"First skypecast ever" and skypecast etymology edit

How can the skypecast mentioned in the article be the first ever, when they talk about using a program recommended for "dual person podcasts". That bit seems to be added by Cameron Reilly himself. Also, although plausible, how can we know that "skypecast" is a portmanteau of "Skype" and "podcast" and not "Skype" and "broadcast"? It the claim not original research? EDIT: sorry, I didn't notice the link "Skype + Podcast Recorder = SkypeCasters", but I am not sure it's "proof" of the etymology. Marc K 22:59, 20 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

Skypecast is now used by Skype to name a particular feature of the program edit

Skypcast as a term may have roots elsewhere but now it has become a feature of the skype program. It alows anyone to set up a public voice chat room that other users can join and leave at will. They call these public rooms skypecast's more information can be found here: Official Skypecast Home Page 67.181.91.40 09:01, 8 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

most skypecast not working edit

any theory from a technological standpoint on why skypecasts work or dont work —Preceding unsigned comment added by 78.105.134.113 (talk) 20:26, 1 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

My limited and biased theory is that it uses bandwidth normally allocated to phone calls. eBay, who own skype, may have felt that tracking users and conferences imposes a heavy amount of log traffic which then must be retained for several decades. Since the new laws have been passed, to the keeping of records, it may have become a large task in comparison to the revenue it was deemed likely to generate. A great emphasis has been placed on tracking information. The other bizarre event I can report is that once I entered a discussion on World Peace and thereafter I was questioned heavily as to who I was and what I wanted - it was accidental and it seemed unusual to be questioned.
