Smells a bit of advert edit

Parts of this article have more of an advertising tone than an encyclopedia. Is the list of "current" movies appropriate? (John User:Jwy talk) 19:54, 13 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

Fair use rationale for Image:Skymovies07.PNG edit

Image:Skymovies07.PNG is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 05:54, 6 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

1998 rebrand edit

The article states that in 1998, Sky Movies Screen 1 was rebranded as Sky Premier and Screen 2 as MovieMax. This is a common misconception, it was actually the other way round; Screen 1 became MovieMax and Screen 2 became Premier. This could be seen on the Astra transponder lists of the time, MovieMax was on transponder 16 (the former Sky Movies frequency) and Premier on transponder 18 (the former Movie Channel frequency). See http://web.archive.org/web/19991111030152/www.lyngsat.com/astra1b.shtml and http://www.selkirkshire.demon.co.uk/analoguesat/historiclists/essentialtuning.html Karsini (talk) 00:53, 29 November 2008 (UTC)Reply

Merging 007 HD? edit

Sky Movies 007 HD was created, but I don't know why. However, like Ashton Kutcher on Twitter, this short-lived channel appeared on the Main Page as DYK, and it will likely be unstable as stand-alone article. If not to be merged here, where else? --George Ho (talk) 20:53, 15 December 2012 (UTC)Reply

Not sure unstable is the correct term. It may not be expandable so merging seems ok. If there are other Sky themed channels then perhaps an article concerning all of these is the solution. Paul MacDermott (talk) 21:12, 15 December 2012 (UTC)Reply

Sky Cinema name change edit

I think that the name of the page should be changed from Sky Movies to Sky Cinema from July in line with the rebrand made by Sky. I am checking if anyone has any opposition/opinions on this first?Hkong91 (talk) 12:27, 19 June 2016 (UTC)Reply

I think we should wait until the official changeover on the 8th July? --Hosgeorges! 11:07, 3 July 2016 (UTC)
No can do. Sky Cinema is a disambiguation page. So no argument about the page needing moving, but a decision needs to be made on where to move it to. Sky Cinema (UK & Ireland)? Digifiend (talk) 09:14, 8 July 2016 (UTC)Reply

Sky MoviesSky Cinema (UK & Ireland) – Channel has rebranded. Do we agree on the disambiguation? Digifiend (talk) 09:17, 8 July 2016 (UTC)Reply

Someone's gone ahead and moved Sky Movies to Sky Cinema (UK and Ireland). Digifiend (talk) 17:23, 8 July 2016 (UTC)Reply
  • Move to Sky Cinema. Clear primary topic over the German and Italian versions, with more than ten times the page views.[1]  — Amakuru (talk) 20:25, 16 July 2016 (UTC)Reply

New temporary channel - September 2018 edit

A recent temporary channel re-brand is not listed. And I'm not good at using the channel template so if someone can add this, it would be appreciated. Thank you!
