High performance?nope

Hemmingway told us that his Old Man used a skiff. I guess it was not "high performance" in the modern sense. So maybe skiff could also be simply a small fisherman's boat with a sail? New Layout with National Divisions

Am not very convinced this is appropriate... Skiff as rowing boat in the Thames skiff sense is not an exclusively British usage and skiff in the sense of boats derived from the overcanvassed Sydney hardbour sailing boats is most definitely an International usage. Skiff as Combatant Vessel

Actually it reminds us that perhaps one the main characteristic shared by all skiffs is the flat angled bow that allows easy beaching on a sloped shore. Motmit (talk) 16:57, 26 March 2012 (UTC)
