"The centre, at present, is an unappealing mess of ..."

This is an opinion, a word like "unappealing" must be in violation of the NPOV?

I have removed the sentence about "unappealing mess". Greswik 10:31, 23 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

This should be two articles - one for the municipality, one for the city

edit

Actually, I just realised: this article coveres both the municipality of Ski, and the city of Ski.

This should normally be two articles.

Granted, it's not much here, but it should still be split... Greswik (talk) 21:47, 22 September 2010 (UTC)Reply

I disagree. The "city" which you refer to is a municipality center much like many other Norwegian municipality centers. The fact that the municipality has gained city status in recent years reflects the silly change of the city requirements in 1997 which made it possible for any municipality with 5,000 inhabitants or more to become a "city", which is basically ridiculous but panders nicely to parochial vanity and local chauvinism which is prevalent in the vicinity of Norwegian mayors. __meco (talk) 07:43, 23 September 2010 (UTC)Reply

Remember that the english language has different words for different size settlements - unlike in Norwegian, where any built-up area is a "by". Ski is a town, not a city. Oslo, Bergen and Trondheim are cities.

This article should be just about the municipality, to avoid confusion. It should be renamed "Ski (municipality)" (but I have no idea how to do that). There should be created a separate entry for the town of Ski, which is the principal - but not the only, settlement in the municipality of Ski - the villages of Langhus and Siggerud, for instance, also belong to the municipality of Ski. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 194.19.102.35 (talk) 09:20, 20 March 2014 (UTC)Reply
