SuWiki section?

The wiki deserves a mention in the "Users" section and an external link, but I don't think it should have its own section in the article. It kind of comes off as a bit of an advertisement. Thoughts? Tozoku 00:35, 9 April 2007 (UTC)

The Picture

As I can see, the picture representing SketchUp right now is a creation by Zooobala, who, I believe, is also the creator of the website "A Student Project of Downtown" which is listed in the External Links section. With all due respect, I think the existing picture cannot be used for such a purpose; it should be a more "general" one, one that is preferably official rather than belonging to an individual.I also think that the "A Student Project of Downtown" link should be removed from the External Links section since it is a personal website. I am not that familiar with the principles of External Links section but it seems wrong.

Bypassing the license restrictions

Hi, The latest free version of SketchUp from Google has a 8-hour trial period which can be by-passed by (instructions removed) Resetting the clock to the normal time after restarting the computer will complete the installation and allow the user to use SketchUp until the date set prior to installation (year 2020).

is not really what I would put on an /Encyclopedy/. What's the point except breaking license laws by technical means ?

Why did it get moved?

Steep learning curve

Since I'm not a native english speaker, I am not aware of the everyday conception of this term, but logically, a 'steep learning curve' should mean that something is easy to learn. This is also mentioned in the entry Experience_curve_effects. So the sentence "It was designed to be more intuitive, flexible, and easy-to-use than other 3D modelling programs, which often have steep learning curves." might be confusing.

English idiomatic usage (which may or may not be a misnomer) of "steep learning curve" means "hard to learn." - Talyian 09:07, 12 April 2007 (UTC)

Push Pull patent?!

this tool is called 'extrude' and most modellers have it. can they seriously patent the merging of 'poly select' and 'extrude' into one click?

Another one: since when google loves patents? I thought it supports FOSS and GNU.

And the last: license states its free? Why did i saw different thing (331€) on the site? Shouldn`t it be GPL?? If no, please STOP using GPL software on your servers.

Google didn't create SketchUp or patent "pushpull", you misread the article.

• "SketchUp was developed by the startup company @Last Software"
• "The patent was applied for in November 2000"
• "On March 14, 2006, Google acquired @Last Software"

On another note, I might be missing something, but shouldn't the article read "@Last Software holds a patent (U.S. Patent 6,628,279) on SketchUp's Push/Pull technology" rather then "SketchUp holds a Patent U.S. Patent 6,628,279 on its Push/Pull technology"? Supported platforms/OS?

Can you be specific. I'm new to the discussion, but the article doesn't seem to read like an ad to me. I don't see weasel words or peackock terms. But I could be wrong about this. I agree with Fenelon, under "SketchUp Pro for Education," for example, we have the segment "With free licenses for faculty and significant discounts for students and labs, SketchUp Pro is easy to afford" which is obviously opinion and biased.Bentonetc (talk) 00:33, 26 February 2013 (UTC)
