Ridiculous

Twenty minutes. That's the time between my initial creation of the page and the time the speedy delete tag was slapped on. The editor who did so obviously didn't look too hard. I'm still putting the article together.

I've already said in the article as it stands that The Best American Poetry series has reprinted quite a few poems from the journal. Soon there will be links from individual editions of The Best American Poetry series to this page. The Web links also show interest from others in the poetry world. That Editor would be me. Its not a problem though. You did the proper thing. You put the hangon tag onto the article. That should give you time to add the citations to prove the notability you claim the publication has. Sorry, but just as Wikipedia is not a crystal ball, neither am I. I can only judge your article by what is there as I see it. I don't have a way to look into the future and see what you intend to do. As an aside, while you did say that such and such a poetry series has recognized your publication in some way, you provided no citations proving that. Claims of notability must be verifiable and anyone can say anything in a new article. The burden of proof is on the writer to properly document their claims by using verifiable sources. Importance

I set the importance tag because:

• I cannot see notability (WP:N)

I've added information to the lead paragraph, but it was already there in the old third paragraph. Getting several poems into a single issue of The Best American Poetry 2002 is notable, especially since very few other publications manage that in a single year. Publishing award-winning poets is also notable. There are more notable publications, some of which we don't have articles for on Wikipedia yet, but it's a magazine that's gotten notice. Also check out ghits for "Skanky Possum" — 21,100 hits isn't too shabby. Noroton 16:22, 27 January 2007 (UTC)

If you believe that you have established notability (WP:N) and provided appropriate sources/references (see WP:References), feel free to remove the tag.
