Nivedita not sannyasini

edit

Sister Nivedita was not a Sannyasini. Swami Vivekananda only made her a lifelong brahmacharini. He gave the name Nivedita in Almora, I believe, but I'll have to check the biography for details about when. It was not at the time of the brahmacharya vow, I think... A woman being a brahmacari is bogus, what to speak of a sannyasini. For woman there is only grhasta ashrama in the ashrama of her father, husband or son.106.51.110.89 (talk) 08:05, 31 October 2017 (UTC)Reply

Problems with The section heading

edit

I find problems with the section heading , where her biography is mixed with her works. I should think that another section should be started with the heading 'Her Last Years', keeping the section 'Her works' separate.--Soumit Banerjee (talk) 12:08, 26 December 2010 (UTC)Reply

Vivekananda's death

edit

I think the section regarding Vivekananda's death and her reaction is completely untrue, speculative and not required. সাম্যবাদী (Adda) 19:03, 22 December 2017 (UTC)Reply

Bhagini Nivedita or Sister Nivedita?

edit

I noticed that on 16 June 2015 the name was changed to use "Bhagini" (which also means sister in Sanskrit). While there is a Bhagini Nivedita College in Delhi, most English sources refer to her as "Sister Nivedita". I have changed the introduction diff accordingly. --DreamLinker (talk) 14:23, 1 July 2018 (UTC)Reply

Hi! DreamLinker, as you already know that you have removed Bhagini from the article Sister Nivedita, it is for sure that she was referred as Bhagini Nivedita. Even movies, educational institutes dedicated to her are named Bhagini Nivedita. If you are still not sure, you can check the references one by one. So it's a humble request from me, to revert your edits(replied here as asked by you on your talk page).

maternal grandfather

edit

The only info about the maternal grandfather is a single name, Hamilton, and that he was a leading Irish nationalist. The most prominent Hamiltons in Irish nationalism in that era were Archibald Hamilton Rowan and Charles Hamilton Teeling, who both died before Margaret was born. The source linked to for this provides no further details. larryone (talk) 08:02, 4 July 2022 (UTC)Reply
