Category:Telecommunications terms

I debated adding Signal regeneration to Category:Telecommunications terms too, but that category really shouldn't exist at all. Wikipedia is not a dictionary. Articles are about the things they describe, not about the words that describe them. Signal regeneration is not a "telecommunications term", it is a technique used in telecomm networks. --Srleffler (talk) 06:17, 27 November 2008 (UTC)

I agree except that it's a big job and I'm too busy with more entertaining Wiki works. Most of these tiny articles are definitions snipped out of the official USG 1037 glossary. Nowadays we wouldn't make so many stubs. A few were later expanded, but most seem doomed to punyness. We could paste them together into a glossary article, which approximately means recreating the original glossary. That's about as much work as recategorizing, which I guess is the better course. Both Category:Telephony and Category:Telecommunications have long been overstuffed and always were underthought. Maybe the first step would be to create some more useful cats, such as Category:telecomm techniques or something like that. Anyway it needs to be thought out first, preferably with a bit of discussion, then appropriate cats decided, and finally the articles moved. Jim.henderson (talk) 03:29, 2 December 2008 (UTC)
