Neutrality? edit

This seams more like a marketing site and even then the *file sizes* shouldn't be in an arcticle about a camera.85.22.115.242 (talk) 13:18, 7 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

I don't know about neutrality, as it's just a list of facts. Or factoids; the file sizes don't appear to be sensible, since as far as I know there's no medium or small RAW option. WP:SOFIXIT. Dicklyon (talk) 15:20, 7 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

Sensor size edit

"...which makes it the world's first compact digital camera with an APS-C size sensor."

That's untrue on two counts.

1. A Foveon sensor is not generally considered to be APS-C-sized. It's significantly smaller.

2. I'm pretty sure there was a Sony digicam with a real APS-C sensor 2-3 years back. Can't remember the model right now...

Unless there are objections I'll delete that statement tomorrow. --RenniePet (talk) 16:34, 2 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

OK, I've removed that statement. Incidentally, my memory wasn't totally wrong, the other camera I was thinking of was the Sony DSC-R1. --RenniePet (talk) 20:58, 3 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

(January 9. 2009) You are wrong on both counts. First, the Foveon is only slightly smaller than APS-C, not "significantly" smaller. There are variations in the APS-C standard: Nikon's is 23.6x15.7mm. Canon's is 22.2x14.8mm. The Foveon is 20.7x13.8mm. That's only 1.5mm smaller on the long side. The next standard size down is Four Thirds, which is 17.3x13mm. The Foveon is actually closer to the APS-C than to Four Thirds, so referring to it as "APS-C sized" is not misleading. This is particularly true when you consider than the DP1's competitors are using senors that are less than 8x6mm! (For details, see the APS-C page.
Secondly, the DP1 was the first compact camera to use an APS-C sized sensor. The Sony DSC-R1 you refer to is not a "compact" camera; it is a "bridge" camera. ("Bridge" cameras are larger than a compact but smaller than an SLR.)
If I can figure out how, I'm going to restore those statements. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Blork-mtl (talkcontribs) 15:39, 9 January 2009 (UTC)Reply
OK, I didn't "restore" but I edited the intro to put the statement back (in a neutrally-worded way).Blork-mtl (talk) 16:08, 13 January 2009 (UTC)Reply

Redirect page should be disambiguation edit

Page Dp1 redirects here, but it should be a disambiguation page. I should not be presented with some camera when I'm looking up info on a diesel locomotive!--Rfsmit (talk) 21:44, 15 February 2012 (UTC)Reply
