Venture Cars?

edit

According to Siemens' own website, these trains are called Venture rail cars. How should this affect the article? --Rckania (talk) 18:33, 17 May 2020 (UTC)Reply

Yeah, I’m not sure how to go forward with that. The Siemens Mobility website clearly identifies the trainsets built for AAF/Brightline/Virgin Trains USA as Siemens Viaggio Comfort. It could be that Siemens USA (who runs the site Rckania linked to) decided they needed a more US English friendly marketing name (just a guess on my part). I wouldn’t suggest any major changes, yet. Clearly this is one family of trainsets with perhaps two names. --RickyCourtney (talk) 20:45, 17 May 2020 (UTC)Reply

As an aside, “Viaggio” is the Italian word for “travel” which I am ashamed to admit that I didn’t know until I entered it into Google Translate. I am a speaker of US English... and if I am at all representative of other US English speakers... that could be why Siemens USA did the name change. --RickyCourtney (talk) 21:01, 17 May 2020 (UTC)Reply
At this point, it may just be a wait-and-see situation. It'll probably get much clearer once the Amtrak cars enter service. Pi.1415926535 (talk) 21:24, 17 May 2020 (UTC)Reply
I think the article should be split regardless, the North American spec version has a different history, different dimensions, different top speed, and (possibly) a different name. We can include the connection to the Siemens Viaggio in the History and/or Intro sections of the new Siemens Venture (or Siemens Viaggio (North America)) article.Reaperexpress (talk) 01:16, 25 May 2020 (UTC)Reply
If another split does occur, the article could look something the article for the EuroSprinter, where all the different versions and derivatives are listed, including the Amtrak Version. However, I do not think the article should be split, at least not yet. One article keeps things more simple. Rckania (talk) 18:26, 25 May 2020 (UTC)Reply

@Rckania, RickyCourtney, and Reaperexpress: I have created Draft:Siemens Venture in order to split out all information regarding the North American cars to that page. It's a very rough draft right now, but it's getting there. Any help would be appreciated. – Jadebenn (talk · contribs · subpages) 00:03, 27 May 2020 (UTC)Reply

I appricate the effort, but still think we should wait-and-see before moving any further. --RickyCourtney (talk) 00:20, 27 May 2020 (UTC)Reply
