Talk:Siege of Taganrog

Latest comment: 7 years ago by 67th Tigers in topic Merge with Sea of Azov naval campaign (1855)?

Is there any reason for this not just to be at Siege of Taganrog? The article on the History of Taganrog doesn't suggest there have been any other sieges. --OpenToppedBus - Talk to the driver 10:34, 24 March 2006 (UTC)Reply

I don't mind. You are probably right. Let's do it the way it was made with other similar articles in Wikipedia. ISasha 10:52, 24 March 2006 (UTC)Reply

Infobox edit

If you don't mind, I'll go ahead and add the infobox later today. --Laserbeamcrossfire 16:20, 3 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

That's O.K....but what do you think of choosing another image as illustration of the siege? Maybe one of the old sketches, I mean the bombardment of the downtown? I will also inquire if the Taganrog Museum of Art or the Alferaki Palace can provide something else, I have seen at least two paintings dedicated to the siege... --ISasha 19:51, 3 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

That'd be awesome. And you're right, that bombardment picture looks better there. I'm still working on the article, mainly just reorganizing it, etc. Like it so far? --Laserbeamcrossfire 05:12, 4 August 2006 (UTC)Reply
Yeah, like it a lot! Good job. This kind of infobox thing is new to me ... --ISasha 13:35, 4 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

Revision of 13th December 2016 edit

Please leave the revised version, which as you'll note is sourced. If you wish to add additional data, please do so, with references.67th Tigers (talk) 17:09, 13 December 2016 (UTC)Reply

I have added a section noting that the Russian histories tell a very different story to the English ones. The basic facts are however far more consistent with the English language version of the story. What the Russian version tells us is their perception, and arguably it shows how effective the Royal Navy and their French allies in sowing confusion in the Russian forces in the area and tying down vast numbers of troops.67th Tigers (talk) 17:31, 13 December 2016 (UTC)Reply

Merge with Sea of Azov naval campaign (1855)? edit

I propose moving this over in its entirety to the "Sea of Azov naval campaign" wiki page and including operations in the west of the Azov, the south and the north, as well as the NE operations around Taganrog etc.67th Tigers (talk) 23:48, 13 December 2016 (UTC)Reply
