Creation at misspelling Sidharth Slathia
edit- This article passes the criteria number 7 of WP:MUSICBIO which reads the musician Has become one of the most prominent representatives of a notable style or the most prominent of the local scene of a city, also passes criteria number 1 of music bio of having multiple coverages. 12:21, 1 September 2017 (UTC) Anoptimistix "Message Me" 12:22, 1 September 2017 (UTC)
Requested move 13 September 2017
edit- The following is a closed discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. Editors desiring to contest the closing decision should consider a move review. No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the move request was: Page not moved. Per the discussion below. As both spellings indeed appeared and there is insufficient move rationale, declining and suggest the AfD process goes forward as intended by Winged Blades of Godric. No prejudice to another move request with valid rationale. (closed by non-admin page mover) -- Dane talk 19:29, 22 September 2017 (UTC)
Sidharth Slathia → Siddharth Slathia – I didn't knew the subject was controverial, all I can remember is that it was difficult to type Siddharth Slatha in my mobile phone, so I wrote Sidharth Slathia and was surely going for request the move but as I am primarily a content creator I started creating articles about villages and towns and forgot about this for a while. The subject clearly passes WP:GNG Anoptimistix (talk) 03:11, 13 September 2017 (UTC) Anoptimistix (talk) 03:11, 13 September 2017 (UTC)
- Note: See also this ANI thread where it is suggested that this article creation was an "end-run" around a 7-times deleted, salted title. That's for information only, and should not prevent a move if we're happy with the current content. -- Begoon 03:22, 13 September 2017 (UTC)
- Put on hold--This' s going to be taken to AfD soon.(I will be doing that within a week).Zero notab. in my opinion. It's highly problematic if every desi-singer with five minutes of media fame manages to get an WP article.Winged Blades Godric 06:32, 13 September 2017 (UTC)
- Comment - leaving aside other issues, and yes the creation at the wrong spelling isn't the way to do it. If we look at one of the sources : Huffington Post India Edition "10 Indian Origin Singers On YouTube Who'll Make You Listen To Them" On Loop All the right notes. 10/08/2016 5:00 PM IST | Updated 11/08/2016 10:41 AM IST they all have articles except this one. 1. Sanam (band) 2. Chai Town 3. Armaan Malik 4. Vidya Vox 5. Shirley Setia. 6. Siddharth Slathia 7. Shraddha Sharma 8. Jonita Gandhi 9. Sandeep Thakur 10. Sanah Moidutty. In ictu oculi (talk) 07:41, 13 September 2017 (UTC)
- Oppose. Both spellings appear in the sources. No valid rationale for a move. See discussion as well. Andrewa (talk) 13:52, 20 September 2017 (UTC)
Discussion
editDifficult. Four of the seven previous deletions were completely, and one partly, due to copyvios from
http://www.siddharthslathia.com/p/about.html
which now hard-redirects to a non-existent facebook page. Only two of them were due to non-notability. The Wayback Machine has no archives of the page in question. [1]
It seems highly likely that there are COI issues. An English Wikipedia article is probably of more use in promoting this singer than a personal website or facebook page, so it really stinks, doesn't it? But we need to look past the (many) past mistakes on the part of contributors and simply ask, does this article belong in Wikipedia and at what title if so?
I've looked at the latest version that was deleted as a copyvio, and of course I can't display it here (that would itself be a copyvio) but I can report that none of the text from that version appears in the current article. So it's possible the copyvio problems are solved, but difficult to tell owing to the actions of the connections of the singer himself. (As I said, it stinks.)
The notability issue should be tested at AfD as proposed, which Winged Blades of Godric has said above that they will do within a week. That is the proper next step, this article has a messy history and so it's good to go through the processes at this stage, in fact it's arguably overdue. If the article is deleted again then we protect this name too and get even more wary of recreations.
But assuming it survives (I think it probably will, but barely) then come back to WP:RM by all means. But next time please with a case based on WP:AT, if one can be made (which is also doubtful at this point but entirely possible). Andrewa (talk) 20:37, 20 September 2017 (UTC)

Update
editAndrewa, Winged Blades of Godric, Begoon, In ictu oculi: I want to inform that I have added another in-depth significant non-trival multiple coverages by reliable and reputed Indian news media Deccan Chronicle and India Today, Please Check it out. Frankly speaking i got reference about this musician through social media as when I surfed social media a large group of users who were mostly Indian music listeners were mentioning this singer, as I like to write articles I thought about searching for this person and got significant coverages about this singer and got this one by Hindustan Times, the coverage by HT was significant, independent of the subject. Yes I accept creating it with wrong spelling was a big mistake for which i feel remorse and also got grilled at ANI, but at the time I started this version it passed WP:MUSICBIO criteria #1 and #7 so I thought there may be no issues if I later request a move and then got busy in other content creation work, Now I have added some more significant in-depth coverage by reliable and reputed Indian news media like Deccan Chronicle and India Today, there were many other coverages too on web. Dear SpacemanSpiff as said by Andrewa this version does not have any copvio, and I can't see the past deleted versions as I lack technical ability of viewing deleted version being non-admin, but I am sure this version passes the core notability policy as well as notability for musician's policy. Best wishes. Anoptimistix (talk) 15:21, 20 September 2017 (UTC)
- Yes, deleted versions can (in general) be viewed by admins but only by admins. So you might like to cite this URL if the copyvio question comes up again, particularly if the RM has been archived. Best. Andrewa (talk) 15:39, 20 September 2017 (UTC)
