No references edit

This article needs references. It also needs copyediting to make it sound more like an encyclopedia article and less statements that do not provide alternate point of view.

The Siddha name Poonaikkannanaar of Egypt, is set to be redirected to Jesus. Is there any reference for that? Otherwise we can change that.Rajavel 2k12 (talk) 00:14, 30 October 2012 (UTC)Reply

Adding to the page edit

Please leave formatting of the page alone, it's completely unnecessary, all the links work and direct you to sites where you can learn more, if you have more information then please add Pleasuresofleng (talk) 15:00, 27 July 2023 (UTC)Reply

Also it's a topic about Tamil people, so obvs you're going to get links with Tamil in it, or literal English to Tamil translations, the world is bigger than just the English language Pleasuresofleng (talk) 15:08, 27 July 2023 (UTC)Reply
I mean literal Tamil to English translations Pleasuresofleng (talk) 15:08, 27 July 2023 (UTC)Reply
Pleasuresofleng would you care to explain why you are creating havoc on the page? Lots of cites no have no title or access-dates for their citations. This is a basic requirement of the reliable citation strategy to enhance the encyclopedia and stop the cites having bare URLs. Also this page is always showing up on WP:WCW for errors in having colons in the titles - I have linked this so you can follow yourself. You have undone sound edits by Franz.wohlkoenig, Quuxplusone and myself, for what I can see as being for no good reason. The joy of all things (talk) 15:30, 27 July 2023 (UTC)Reply
@The joy of all things lol havoc? where are you? what are you smoking? It was a dud, this article, I edited it, those were not sound edits, they just removed links because it didn't fit, they added no usable information Pleasuresofleng (talk) 15:44, 27 July 2023 (UTC)Reply
Well, for a start, you stripped out access-dates from web citations; they are supposed to have them. Also, even though I have always included this link here WP:WCW, you always state that the removal of the colons are "unnecessary". The joy of all things (talk) 20:24, 27 July 2023 (UTC)Reply
@The joy of all things Alright guys, I was being sarcastic.Let me see what I can fix, yes it does seem trivial, very unnecessary Pleasuresofleng (talk) 20:45, 27 July 2023 (UTC)Reply
Make useful contributions so people can access information and learn Pleasuresofleng (talk) 10:18, 28 July 2023 (UTC)Reply
So pedantic. Who do y'all think you are? The custodians of colons and access dates? Pleasuresofleng (talk) 10:22, 28 July 2023 (UTC)Reply

@Pleasuresofleng: please explain this edit of yours. It appears that you are deliberately removing interwiki links to the Tamil-language Wikipedia and replacing them with links to https://anaadifoundation.org/ . You also seem to be in violation of WP:3RR. Shall we get a moderator involved, or what? --Quuxplusone (talk) 22:04, 28 July 2023 (UTC)Reply

@Quuxplusone Bruh please, it's a cool story though. Please explain yourself Pleasuresofleng (talk) 22:49, 28 July 2023 (UTC)Reply
@Pleasuresofleng:: Let's take this one step at a time. One of the changes you recently made was that you changed a bunch of links of the form Sundaranandar<ref>{{cite web |url=https://www.anaadifoundation.org/blog/parnika/siddhar-charithiram-sundaraanandar-siddhar |website=anaadifoundation.org}}</ref> to [https://www.anaadifoundation.org/blog/parnika/siddhar-charithiram-sundaraanandar-siddhar/ Sundaranandar]. The latter isn't Wikipedia style; specifically, it leaves no room for the name Sundaranandar to be wikilinked to the actual Wikipedia article on that topic. Obviously @The joy of all things:, @Franz.wohlkoenig: and I would like to use Wikipedia style in this article. May we put those links back to Wikipedia style, or would you simply revert that change again? --Quuxplusone (talk) 17:20, 30 July 2023 (UTC)Reply
@Quuxplusone, for me, its the removal of the access-date that is proving to be annoying. I have pointed out to Pleasuresofleng that we have guidelines but as you can see above, they have accused me of being The custodians of colons and access dates?. This has a strong sense of WP:OWN and WP:NOTHERE to me. The joy of all things (talk) 17:27, 30 July 2023 (UTC)Reply
Well, I'm going to try now with just that one example (Sundaranandar); let's see what happens. (UPDATE: Done.) --Quuxplusone (talk) 18:46, 1 August 2023 (UTC)Reply
@Quuxplusone You haven't put an access date in the new reference, you made the mistake you accused me of, please take more care, this is a public space. I put the link in with the name of the Siddhar, months ago, to link it directly to the external site for more info, because there isn't a wiki article. It's not a reference. I mean, if only you knew more about the topic, it's the colons and access dates that pique your interest, but you've gone done messed up now, that's a tad embarrassing, you were supposed to be the custodians, who will we rely on now? Pleasuresofleng (talk) 19:23, 1 August 2023 (UTC)Reply
I didn't change any links, please go through the page edit history properly, there were no links to external sites on the Siddhars apart from one. I linked what wiki articles there are to the list of Siddhars, and for the rest that don't have articles, I added external links, not references. Please check through and be sure before you make such accusations and modifications to a page that was already perfect. You clearly have no expertise in the area. You've got the formatting wrong yourself, left out the access date on reference 22 which you added yesterday. If you can't do that properly, what's the point of your existence? What are we going to do? Where is the access date? You are causing havoc!!! If you notice, all the references I put in have an access date from earlier this year. Pleasuresofleng (talk) 08:32, 2 August 2023 (UTC)Reply
I forgot, are you going to remove the colons too? Must be a dream job for the likes of you, removing colons from different wiki articles; 3 evil colons down, all in a day's work for the custodians, we work to keep Wiki clean and free from crime Pleasuresofleng (talk) 09:42, 2 August 2023 (UTC)Reply

All right, Pleasuresofleng "thanked" me for that edit. Let's now try adjusting all 36 siddhars' external links in the same way. (Btw @Franz.wohlkoenig: feel free to add access-dates; me, I'm not currently reading those URLs except to see that they exist.) --Quuxplusone (talk) 13:28, 2 August 2023 (UTC)Reply

@Quuxplusone Then why do you bother oh great custodian of the colon? Pleasuresofleng (talk) 13:42, 2 August 2023 (UTC)Reply
If you're not reading this topic, if you're not putting in access dates, why oh great custodian of the colon must you interfere? Pleasuresofleng (talk) 13:44, 2 August 2023 (UTC)Reply
I did not put these links in as references. I already had access dates, and you custodians of the colon ignore that and tell me I didn't put in access dates. These are external web links, not references, what part of that doesn't get into your supremely intelligent colon custodian minds? Pleasuresofleng (talk) 13:47, 2 August 2023 (UTC)Reply

Done! I actually did add access-dates, anyway. --Quuxplusone (talk) 13:47, 2 August 2023 (UTC)Reply

@Quuxplusone Thank you colonic irrigation specialists Pleasuresofleng (talk) 13:51, 2 August 2023 (UTC)Reply
I'm sure there are are other wiki articles that could use your next level custodian skills, you are clearly too intelligent for the information on this page and it cannot be formatted to your liking as you don't stand to benefit from it Pleasuresofleng (talk) 14:06, 2 August 2023 (UTC)Reply
Fair enough little boy, go crying to mommy and daddy, I explained my reasons very clearly, it fell on deaf ears, you refused to take it in to consideration, now you're butthurt, what can I do? Maybe put on your big boy pants sometime Pleasuresofleng (talk) 15:16, 2 August 2023 (UTC)Reply
@Quuxplusone When you read through the talk page, you will see that all your accusations are bogus, there were always titles and access dates for all citations from as far back as March 2023, when I started editing it. You and your gang of custodians stripped the access dates, turned external links into references, messed with the colons, made comments about the links containing Tamil language, made further bogus claims about the Tamil language wiki page; that page isn't even the same as this, I bet you can't even read it and it too doesn't contain complete information on the Siddhars, hence the external links in English. Why bother oh great custodians? Pleasuresofleng (talk) 16:47, 2 August 2023 (UTC)Reply
@Quuxplusone Congratulations on solving your 1st world problem custodians of colons and access dates Pleasuresofleng (talk) 13:47, 5 August 2023 (UTC)Reply
If you know about the Siddhars and are interested in the topic, please contribute information to the page. If you don't know about them and are not interested, only concerned with formatting, then leave it alone Pleasuresofleng (talk) 13:55, 5 August 2023 (UTC)Reply
All my references are easily accessible, the books are also free to download, isn't this the spirit of wikipedia? Pleasuresofleng (talk) 13:57, 5 August 2023 (UTC)Reply
Ya blocked me for sharing information freely Pleasuresofleng (talk) 14:01, 5 August 2023 (UTC)Reply

@Daniel Case: Pleasuresofleng is baack... (Referring to these two reverts.) --Quuxplusone (talk) 02:00, 6 August 2023 (UTC)Reply

Explain revert edit

I have reverted the article to the April 17 2023 version prior to the recent expansion by, primarily Pleasuresofleng since the sources they used were non-RS, such as:

etc. Other sources used were primary (eg a translation of Tirumantiram) or ones that need to be used with care for mainly attributed views rather than facts (eg, most publications of Himalayan Academy). There were also issues of WP:TONE, in-universe regurgitation of adherent's beliefs in wiki-voice, and potential WP:OR. That said the version of the article that I reverted to is far from good and there is possibly some material that be usefully recovered from the expanded version. So, for convenient access, here is the diff of the content that was added between April 17 upto my revert. Abecedare (talk) 03:05, 6 August 2023 (UTC)Reply

@Abecedare: Sounds good to me, for what it's worth. :) Commenting here just to say that I put back the Tamil-language Wikipedia links, and then @SKAG123: reverted them, and I've just now put them back again. I'm guessing, from the preoccupations of Pleasuresofleng and SKAG123, there must be some political/religious drama about the relationship between Tamil language and this article's topic. For the record I have no horse in the political/religious race; I'm just {{ill}}'ing to the existing articles so that people know they exist (and maybe someday someone will WP:TRANSLATE them). @SKAG123: in case it helps: If there were entries for these characters on the Hindi Wikipedia, we could {{interlanguage link multi}} those pages too; it's just that the Tamil-language versions are the only versions that exist today. --Quuxplusone (talk) 18:48, 9 August 2023 (UTC)Reply
hello @Quuxplusone
I removed red links that did not have any page linked to them. I kept links to wiki pages in other languages. SKAG123 (talk) 19:51, 9 August 2023 (UTC)Reply
Ah, your second revert looks better, at least. I still think it's best to have links to subjects that are notable enough that they should have a Wikipedia page, even when they happen not to have pages at the moment (so that "What links here" will just magically work as soon as someone writes the article) — but I don't mind enough to ask for the Kamalamuni or Machamuni redlinks to be put back. Thanks for leaving the Tamil-Wikipedia links this time. --Quuxplusone (talk) 00:41, 10 August 2023 (UTC)Reply
