List of 84 Siddhas/Mahasiddhas

edit

There is no so-called complete list of 84 Siddhas/Mahasiddhas. The list avialable in present Mahasiddha article is basicallly a list of Abhayadattashri (c. 12th century CE) (but not in proper order). There is another list from Tibetan/Buddhist source, the list of Vajrasana (c. 11th century CE). The list which was presented here is the list of Jyotirisvrara (14th century CE), which is different and from a Indian/Hindu source. The differences are important for understanding the topic. Before deletion one should understand a little about the topic.Joy1963 08:12, 30 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

Redrawn Image In Vector

edit

I redrew the Siddha Shila in SVG with slight adaptions. New to Wikipedia. Hope this contribution is useful. May I add the SVG file to this page? http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Siddha_Shila.svg

Rewriting the Lead

edit

Lead section of the article starts with Tamil meaning of Siddah, which may imply that "Siddha" word is unique to Tamil, but the term is widely used in India, particularly in spiritual context. In this background, the term "Siddha" needs to be described in general terms ( and not Tamil meaning ) which covers Indian context. I hope people will understand my point - as the word is generally used. No intention to undermine any language/groups.Rayabhari (talk) 13:27, 18 January 2013 (UTC)Reply

Renaming

edit

The word Siddha is used in many different fields of study and therefore, for exclusivity, the page is renamed to Siddha (Hinduism).talk 03:55, 13 January 2015 (UTC)Reply

Edit warring?

edit

Now, what's up? Adding info, removing info, removing more info, rstoring an older version - I can understand that a [[W{:COPYVIO]] is reverted, but why was sourced info removed? Joshua Jonathan -Let's talk! 07:50, 13 January 2015 (UTC)Reply

See [1]. He removed that part so that he can make a Siddha (Jainism). Bladesmulti (talk) 08:11, 13 January 2015 (UTC)Reply

Yes, because more info. is going to be added to Siddha (Jainism), it would be better if Siddha is a disambiguation page and for exclusivity Siddha (Hinduism) & Siddha (Jainism) & many other pages with title starting with siddha. — Preceding unsigned comment added by ProudJain (talkcontribs) 13:51, 13 January 2015 (UTC)Reply
