Is this still a stub? edit

If nobody objects, I'm going to remove the stub template since this article looks too substantial for it. --DryaUnda 08:32, 10 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

Stub tag removed. I could use some expansion, but I think it's not small enough to be a stub. --DryaUnda 04:55, 19 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

caste discrimination and Apartheid in South Africa edit

Apartheid led to murders, imprisonment, restriction in mobility, criminalization of cross-racial relationships and children. It does not seem right to compare the caste discrimination in thr Siam Nikayya to that, and if this comparison is retained, a citation is needed. People of any caste (indeed of any or no religion) are welcome to worship at Siam Nikayya temples (certainly the Temple of the Tooth, which a is a big tourist attraction). There is caste discrimination in Sri Lanka but it is not de jure as Apartheid was. People in present day Sri Lanka are not killed or imprisoned or tortured on the basis of caste. If they are, well, citation needed.

The caste restrictions on higher ordination indeed seem preposterous and contrary to many fundamental teachings in Buddhism. I don't dupute that, but again citation is needed, this is Wikipedia not a personal essay. Ajasen (talk) 21:59, 29 July 2020 (UTC)Reply
