British citizen? edit

Did she gain British citizenship? If so, when? Nietzsche 2 (talk) 03:12, 3 April 2009 (UTC)Reply

I'm not sure, but I think that marrying a British citizen would automatically have conferred citizemnship. JH (talk page) 08:13, 3 April 2009 (UTC)Reply

Death edit

Cause? Nietzsche 2 (talk) 03:12, 3 April 2009 (UTC)Reply

I thought that I had read that it was cancer, but I can't find a mention of the cause of death in any of the three obituaries linked to in the article. JH (talk page) 08:19, 3 April 2009 (UTC)Reply
Here (in the last paragraph) she herself says: "Well, the doctors have told me that my cancer is terminal and so I am having to dictate what is certainly my last piece of journalism." Cause: Cancer. --BF 02:21, 4 April 2009 (UTC)Reply

Active edit

Shusha Guppy was active right up until her death in the spring of 2008. She may not have been singing or recording any more, but she presented BBC radio documentaries and wrote in the UK Press wight up until late 2007 and even early 2008. She also published another book about the Levant in the mid-2000s. Therefore, 'Years Active' should end with 2008, not 2001 (which may have been when she stopped singing). I can't edit right now, as the page has been blocked, but maybe someone would insert this suggested change once the page has been unblocked?

The page is not blocked, however, I've made the change. Paul B (talk) 11:48, 26 May 2009 (UTC)Reply

Objection to proposed deletion edit

I have removed the template from the article that was added to it today proposing its deletion. No reason was given for the proposed deletion, and I can't see any good reason for it. The subject of the article seems clearly notable, the article is properly referenced amd seems of quite good quality. (I should declare an interest, as I was the original creator of the article, though a number of other people have worked on it since.) JH (talk page) 18:59, 18 August 2010 (UTC)Reply

Discography edit

There is one more LP release not yet mentioned in the discography section. Entitled "Strange Affair" it was issued in 1986 and includes songs by Leonard Cohen and John Lennon.

There was also a privately produced cassette entitled "La Fortune" which Shusha sold at her concerts. This was a live recording of a concert given at the Institut Français in (I think) 1980 and includes various traditional French songs, together with compositions by Léo Ferré, Jacques Brel and Georges Moustaki. Please feel free to add them. JH (talk page) 18:10, 9 January 2011 (UTC)Reply

Filmography needed edit

I just watched two different versions of the same footage: on DVD, People of the wind (1976, 110 mins, narrated by James Mason) and Bakhtiari Migration: the Sheep Must Live on Youtube (1973, 58 minutes, narrated by Shushu).

In both versions, the credits list Susha as Executive Producer and performer of traditional Persian songs. In the shorter version, her name is listed as narrator also.

I suspect the James Mason version was cut for the USA market, whereas the shorter Shusha version was cut for the European market. They are both worth watching.

But considering the depth of her involvement with this film, I definitely think it should be included in the article as it's own paragraph, not just a side mention elsewhere.--Tallard (talk) 11:53, 19 December 2011 (UTC)Reply

Fair enough. Go ahead. JH (talk page) 18:09, 19 December 2011 (UTC)Reply
