Postnominals edit

At Order of New Zealand, his postnominals are listed as:

  • ONZ OE GCMG OM AC QC.

Here, they're shown as :

  • AC GCMG ONZ QC.

The QC is shown last in both lists. The AC, GCMG and ONZ are common to both lists, but the order of precedence is reversed. Does anybody know the correct order?

OM and OE are shown only in the first list. I know what OM is, but what is OE? JackofOz 08:48, 31 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

The correct order of precedence is as follows: 1) Orders of person's nation from high to low, 2) Commonwealth orders in between the person's nation orders, 3) Orders from other nation with precedence by rank and year of founding order, 4) postnominals of councils, 5) postnominals of fellowships. Since he doesn't recieve a Guyanese order, the correct precedence should be: GCMG (Commonwealth order), AC (oldest foreign order & highest Australian order), ONZ (highest New Zealand order), OE (not the highest order from Jamaica, but higher than the OM of Jamaica), OM, QC, FRSA. Comment edit

I removed the following paragraph:

"Some analysts[who?] have criticized Ramphal's focus on South Africa and, in the late 1970s, white minority rule in Rhodesia, at a time when the majority of Commonwealth nations were either one-party states or military dictatorships. For example, Ramphal declined to make public comment in 1983 when Robert Mugabe began a program of genocide in south-west Zimbabwe.[citation needed]"

This paragraph consists of unsourced assertions. The suggestion that Robert Mugabe committed genocide is dubious. That sentence is potentially libellous of both Ramphal and Mugabe. Neljack (talk) 10:49, 31 October 2011 (UTC)Reply

Page move? edit

This page was moved with the rationale "always known as Sonny when he was in public life". Since that differs sharply from my recollection of the man who handed me my B.Sc. diploma, I think we need some sort of sourcing to support that. Guettarda (talk) 16:48, 15 April 2014 (UTC)Reply

New Editor edit

Hello! I'm interested in adding some information on Shridath Rampal's page regarding his involvement as a Commissioner of the Earth Charter and the Earth Charter's drafting process. As I am new to this page, I would welcome any suggestions as to where such a text would be appropriate, if at all. Thank you!
