Talk:Shrewsbury Chronicle

Disputable point - mapping of Shropshire edit

The paper is stated to have begun "before the county [of Shropshire] was mapped for the first time". However, a map of the county was published by John Speed in the early 17th century, and an earlier one by Christopher Saxton (died c.1610) - granted they would not be to Ordnance Survey standards.Cloptonson (talk) 08:22, 29 June 2014 (UTC)Reply

Disputable point - newspaper's present base edit

There is a factual inconsistency about its stated headquarters or base. In the infobox it is stated to be in Bellstone, which is in the town centre of Shrewsbury 'inside the loop' made by the River Severn, but in the main text it is stated to be "Abbey Foregate, opposite the town's historic abbey" which is 'outside the loop' to the east.Cloptonson (talk) 08:22, 29 June 2014 (UTC)Reply

Unreliable and unverifiable sources edit

It seems this page is supported by unreliable, unverifiable sources. I placed a notability tag on the page but going forward I do think we need to have a serious discussion about whether there is indeed room on Wikipedia's servers for this ostensibly unnotable publication. It would be civil to name what you call the 'unreliable, unverifiable sources' as contributors to this article such as myself who only used published sources may feel a finger is being pointed at them without opportunity to reply.Cloptonson (talk) 20:57, 1 March 2020 (UTC)Reply

Society of editors source is not about the publication edit

Hello @Tacyarg: I'm afraid the source you used to verify the Chronicle's notability does not do so. It confirms who the current editor is and who the previous editor was but as it only mention's the subject in passing the source cannot be used. Would you mind removing it please? Hi, I'm a bit confused about your comment - I did not intend the Hold the Front Page link (is this the one you mean?) to reference the newspaper's notability, but the name of the previous editor. Tacyarg (talk) 10:28, 25 October 2018 (UTC)Reply
