This page recently underwent a major revision from 897 bytes to the current (as of October 30, 2009) 8,107 bytes. Thanks to User:Rcawsey there was also substantial pruning due to excessive verbiage by User:Skol fir (Yours Truly).

The main reason for the recent upgrades starting on October 19, 2009 was the sparsity of information, which before this date had obviously been extracted verbatim [minus citation, I might add] from the Symphony's own website, without any reference to the current state of affairs, vis-a-vis the musicians' strike of October, 2008.

It seemed timely, to add more information to provide a context for the current state of impasse between the management of the Shreveport Symphony and its musicians. I did not want to see the orchestra go down without a fight, after 60 years of existence, and hoped that by reviving interest in this article at Wikipedia.org, the spotlight might help to revive the orchestra itself.

Large dreams have small beginnings.

I might add that I have no direct affiliation either with the musicians or the orchestra management, thereby acting as a totally disinterested party, seeking to illuminate the plight and to encourage the survival of a band of highly accomplished musicians, who seek to interpret the music that was put down on paper by creative composers spanning several centuries of human development.

Apparently dreams still do come true! The SSO will start performing again in Jan. 2010, and we hope that ongoing negotiations and advice from experts in the field of orchestra management will produce a long-term solution to this orchestra's survival and growth. The information on this page has been updated accordingly, and with pleasure, I might add. :)
