What's the relation to Shooto?--Janto 01:39, 14 November 2005 (UTC)Reply

The only relation is that their names are similar. Other than that they are two completely different and separate entities.

Minor relationship and reason for similar names. Founder of shooto was Sayama, who studied Thai kickboxing with Fujiwara and catch wrestling with Gotch. Ceasar has kickboxing line related to Fujiwara (not sure if direct or not, sorry) AND also studeied wrestling with Gotch. Ceasar's relationship with Gotch led to "suplex" as part of the kickboxing, thus "shoot boxing". Also Ceasar is friends with Sayama. But distinct organizations and distinct competition formats Nysanda (talk) 21:07, 3 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

Shooto is full on MMA (with protective gear for certain levels) and Shoot Boxing is akin to Sanda, type of kickboxing where stand-up grappling & throws are allowed. Confusion might stem from the fact that Sayama alias Tiger Mask I used lot of kickboxing during his pro wrestling career - i.e using kicks and wrestling throws - which may have mislead people into believing that Shootboxing is Sayama's creation. And as Nysanda pointed out, Ceasar and Sayama were quite close compatriots, both having worked in Maeda's 1st iteration of UWF. -- TrickShotFinn (talk) 11:04, 6 January 2022 (UTC)Reply

Ideas for references

Shoot Boxing links at Google Books The Japanese word for Shootboxing (シュートボクシング) yields many results at Google Books. However, there is a bit of a language barrier for me, not to mention most of these examples are inaccessible for reasons. -- TrickShotFinn (talk) 10:51, 6 January 2022 (UTC)Reply
