Sah10406 (talk) 12:32, 24 May 2013 (UTC)I have mostly written the article single-handed, and I am thrilled that almost all the key players have responded to requests for memories and facts about this cult record. Not all have been quoted directly, but thanks to all who responded: Mary O'Leary (Reparata herself), Eric Beam (songwriter, who provided the cutting from Billboard), and Clive Stanhope (MD of Dart Records at the time). I contacted Reparata (formerly Lorraine) Mazzola, who at the time was in dispute with Mary O'Leary over who was the real Reparata, and she told me to check Wikipedia for info, so I take that as a compliment that it is all correct!

Ok I have been tinkering with it for a week now in my spare time, but I think this page is now done. I was obsessed with this song as an 11-year old, but never had a recording of it until recently when I bought the Reparata and the Delrons greatest hits CD. In creating this page and doing some research, I think I have become obsessed all over again again. It would have been nice to have a link to a sound recording of the song, but maybe someone else can do that. Any other memories of Shoes out there? Sah10406 (talk) 09:33, 28 March 2008 (UTC)

Oh, yes. And you have done a marvelous job of telling the tale of the song and why it seems to have been not as much of a hit in some parts of the world as in others. I live in the USA, and remember hearing one of our local rock-and-roll stations play the record, and fell madly in love with it. It took going to one of the specialty shops in the area to find a copy (since although it was a fair-sized hit locally here in the southeast US, it still wasn't something you'd find at your local mass-market record shop). It's been in my personal top faves ever since, and was one of the first singles I transferred to CD back in the 1990s. Thanks for the great writeup on a great, and underappreciated, record! Earlier version

The band "Felix Harp" who backed Reparata on this version had previously recorded their own version (with the exact same backing track) in 1973 for Lou Guarino's NAMI (North American Music Industries) label (single # NAMI 2011); the full title as on their recording was "She Didn't Forget Her Shoes (Johnny & Louise)." (I actually have a copy of their rendition, which vocally was nondescript compared with Reparata's.) Guarino was listed as producer of the original, and a co-producer of Reparata's recording.
