- Evan T Jones (talk · contribs) This user has declared a connection. ((Optional) Shirley Jones (artist) is my mother. I believe my draft makes the case for her being a 'notable subject', with references to verifiable sources to justify that. I have deliberately left the draft page very spare and factual, avoiding value judgments about Shirley Jones' merits as an artist / writer / printmaker. This has been done even when it comes to the expression of published reviews of her work expressed by well-respected independent authorities, such as museum curators. While I have edited and created many Wikipedia pages, this is the first time I have done so where I have a conflict of interest. I wish to do so in a transparent / open way and am submitting it first for review.
I note finally, at the outset, that there are particular reasons why I think it worth creating this page now and my involvement in the process. These relate to Cardiff University and its progression of the digitising of Shirley Jones' work (see links below), its electronic publication and her wish that her work should be made available on a creative commons licence. This in itself is unusual (most artists guard their copyright), but I believe it is a decision that tallies well with the basic philosophy and aspirations of Wikipedia and Wikimedia.
I will be happy to engage constructively with any reviews / feedback / suggestions offered.) |
