Shilpa Shastras should not be merged with Vastu shastras. While the fields are related, Shilpa Shastras explicitly deal with sculpture - forming statues , icons, stone murals etc. Vastu Shastras are concerned primarily with building architecture - building houses, forts, temples, apartments etc. Both were founded by a sage named brahmarishi Mayan but they differ considerably in content and intent.
