Note on Geography edit

In reference to the quote "Shigella boydii is restricted to the Indian subcontinent.[3]"There has been a case of this species recorded in San Marcos La Laguna, Guatemala, and if not there originally, It's potentially been spread there now by yours truely. I recieved the diagnosis from Gamma Dynacare Laboratories, Canada on the 7th june 2008. The organism has been confirmed by the Public Health Laboratory and reported to the Medical Officer of Health, Toronto, Ontario, Canada.

So although i traveled through Hong Kong for 3 days before spending 6 months in Guatemala and Mexico, Its been contracted in one of these places. Maybe add - speculated to be "recently detected in central america" This is the best verification that i can do

Wrong Boyd? edit

It turns out that Shigella boydii was isolated by Major J.S.K. Boyd of the British Royal Army Medical Corps in 1929. I see no connection with Mark Boyd. See (Lampel, Keith A.; Formal, Samual B.; Maurelli, Anthony Y. (January 2018). "A Brief History of Shigella". EcoSal Plus. 8. Discovery of the Dysentary Bacillus. J.S.K. Boyd was John Boyd (bacteriologist). - Donald Albury 23:25, 19 August 2022 (UTC)Reply
