editIs this the one that runs between Willamtte and the hospital parallel to 22/Pringle Pkwy? Also, this might have some stuff for adding. Aboutmovies (talk) 13:59, 6 December 2008 (UTC)
- Yup, thanks! I ran across this book when I was researching the Salem Water Works. The ponds that are now part of the landscaping of the Civic Center probably originally had something to do with the water works, but darned if I can find a definitive source... There is also this: http://pringlecreek.watershedcouncils.net/WatershedAssessment.pdf. Katr67 (talk) 04:10, 7 December 2008 (UTC)
Natural or artificial?
editJust some notes for follow up. I discovered that the history of the origin of the ditch is spotty. As I recall, there might have originally been a "Shelton Creek" that was enlarged and deepened to make the ditch in the 1880s or '90s or it may have been newly dug then. It was also enlarged in the 1930s--that part is pretty clear. Pre-1890s maps do seem to show a stream running through the area, but speculating that this is was Shelton Creek is likely original research. Katr67 (talk) 17:08, 21 March 2009 (UTC)
