Double Earflap Helmet

edit

His wearing of a double earflap helmet is in fact very interesting. As far as I know, he and Orlando Hudson are the only 2 to do it in the major leagues. Find somewhere to fit it in, but do it. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.45.73.70 (talk) 19:19, 5 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Ethnicity?

edit

Any information on his ethnicity? He looks biracial or multiracial, as opposed to an ethnic Hawaiian. If so, it would be of interest because it's unusual. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 65.200.177.10 (talk) 16:49, 25 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Shane Victorino's Japanese Heritage

edit

Shane Victorino is 2nd son of Mike Victorino http://www.mauiproperties.com/mikevictorino.htm

His wife's former surname is Nakahashi. http://www.myspace.com/michaelvictorino

>Mike is married to Joycelyn ( Nakahashi ) of Wailuku and have two sons, Michael Jr, and Shane.

Shane's grandma's name is Olive Nakahashi. http://www.midweek.com/content/story/theweekend_coverstory/shane_victorino/P1/

Nakahashi is the Japanese family name.

A lot of Japanese official sources say that Shane has Japanese heritage.

You know the difference bw pure Japanese and Japanese-American.

None of those links provided meet WP:RS, and the claim that other sources exist is not a valid reason. KV5Squawk boxFight on! 12:56, 19 November 2008 (UTC)Reply

I guess this man is his relative http://www.botany.hawaii.edu/gradstudentpages/Chris_Nakahashi.htm

"You guess" doesn't do it either. I can't read Japanese so I'd have to defer to a translator on that one. KV5Squawk boxFight on! 13:56, 19 November 2008 (UTC)Reply

Shane Victorino is also of Hawaiian ancestry, as well as Portuguese, English and Japanese descent.

OK, that certainly makes sense. I have no problem re-adding Japanese-American people, but Japanese sportspeople is still wrong. He isn't technically Japanese; he's American. KV5Squawk boxFight on! 12:25, 20 November 2008 (UTC)Reply

Oh, what a joy for me! Thank you.

Another category is "Japanese American sportspeople", not "Japanese sportspeople". You're still confusing American Japanese and pure Japanese.

No, I'm not confusing them, I just misread what you had entered. Good enough for me. Make sure that when you enter comments on talk pages that you don't move people's signatures around. Mine keeps getting misplaced. Just put your comments at the very end of the page. Glad we were able to come to an agreement. KV5Squawk boxFight on! 13:01, 20 November 2008 (UTC)Reply

"Shane Victorino Day"

edit

The article mentions this twice with respect to the year 2007. The two references should be combined into one. Also, one says the event took place on June 3, but the other says Father's Day. Father's Day is always the third Sunday of June. Please clarify the exact date. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 65.200.177.10 (talk) 16:55, 25 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Can sommeone please explain why? We are talking about a fella who played for a Baseball World Series champion. I agree. The information needs to be updated as a result. But I don't see this article's tone or style inappropriate for the targetted audience. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.62.83.192 (talk) 22:13, 31 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

Wondering if we should update an image of this guy? We still use his September 2008 one, but he might have changed his appearance in 6 years time.--Mishae (talk) 22:06, 1 May 2014 (UTC)Reply

I just changed it to one from last year. He looks almost the same, but it's nice to have him in the right uniform. Calidum 22:18, 1 May 2014 (UTC)Reply
Thanks. Well, yes, he maybe looks the same, but a lot of fans might remember him how he is now then what he was a decade ago.  --Mishae (talk) 22:24, 1 May 2014 (UTC)Reply
