- Its such a shame to see it deleted - Its so much better than some articles at least it has references! Some nominators avoid the unreferenced articles because they have to do some work before nominating it - this type of article are easy pickings. I hope it's OK to add this here. I was watching the Seth Andrews page and I'm sorry it was taken down, too. However, since he's going to be touring Australia with Matt Dillahunty and Aron Ra soon, do you think that will be enough to "put him on the map?" Megalibrarygirl (talk) 21:18, 7 February 2015 (UTC)

- I did some minor corrections. The second book does make him a lot more notable as an author; Deconverted was not just a one-off. I also linked to Apostacon, where he spoke several times. - I was hoping that that would be enough too so I asked an uninvolved editor to have a look and he doesn't think its enough to save it from another deletion (The books are self-published). I gathered more sources for future consideration and asked Susan to comment on them regarding helping with WP notoriety. Here they are for future reference. (Her comments are in bold.)

...Seth Andrews, author of Deconverted: A Journey from Religion to Reason and founder of the Thinking Atheist website describes in his book how he began an in-depth study of the Bible after first questioning religion. In Numbers 31, Andrews read how God instructed Moses to "kill all the male Midianite children and kill every woman who has slept with a man, but save for yourselves every girl who has never slept with a man.” He read how rape victims deserve a death sentence if they don't cry out for help. He also read about the numerous mass killings God commanded. When he brought all this to the attention of his Christian friends and family, he says that “[n]obody had satisfactory answers. Nobody joined my chorus of alarm bells. Nobody really cared.”
...Seth Andrews has a similar tale in his book Deconverted. He told his mother he was atheist and she was “obviously blinking away the unthinkable notion that her son's outright rejection of Yahweh would sentence him to a painful, fiery, eternal Hell.... She protested. She argued. She wept.”

Most of these could be used on a page if the page was already noteworthy. But nothing "proves" noteworthiness. I've talked to him personally about this and he doesn't seem to get it. He would like to have a WP page but isn't about doing to work to help us get it for him.
What he needs is for others to call him notable. By "others" they need to be notable. And it can't be on an interview with Seth.
For example if Seth gave a talk at a local venue and had the newspapers write about it then that would be good. It's like the local media is saying "Hey this guy is so notable that we are going to cover his lecture"
The difference is kinda hard to understand. Picture Wait Wait Don't tell me. And you have two people, one on the panel and one that is calling in to answer the questions.
The one calling in might be funny and clever and have been on the show. But it isn't like the show called them. They just happened to get through when calling in. IF the media afterwards looked up the person who called in and said "Hey you are funny, we want to do a story about you" then that would be much better. RobP (talk) 21:13, 29 December 2016 (UTC)
- Thanks for all your hard work RobP, I occasionally do a fresh search for anything new and I haven't found anything yet that would bring this over the line for notability.
