This page needs an overhault, as several taxa are 'double-listed'. If following MSW3 taxonomy, there is no such thing as a Mainland Serow. That's only if using the taxonomy where C. milneedwardsii, C. rubidus and C. thar are considered subspecies of C. sumatraensis. If these are considered separate species, C. sumatraensis is called the Sumatran Serow and is restricted to the Thai-Malay Peninsula and Sumatra, while populations further north fall into the beforementioned C. milneedwardsii, C. rubidus and C. thar. This problem also relates to the Mainland Serow, which should be moved to Sumatran Serow, have its range and subspecies updated (I guess the remaining info, too), thereby leaving "Mainland serow" (to which Mainland Serow should redirect) as a disambiguation page similar to Pig-tailed macaque. 212.10.67.166 (talk) 12:38, 21 December 2008 (UTC)
- Quite a few mammal articles were created by a bot early on using IUCN for taxonomy and common names which, while it was nice having the articles, really threw a wrench in the machine later on. It looks like this article was created using americazoo.com, whatever that is. I've been tediously comparing every mammal article on WP to the taxonomy on MSW3 for about 6 months off and on now (I'm about 1/2 done) while trying to get the footer templates organized, and have moved over a hundred articles to match with MSW3. UNFORTUNATELY, the whole Artiodactyla family is so massively screwed up that I have intentionally skipped it for now and don't plan to tackle it for a few months (hopefully). I agree this should be moved, but with a subspecies stuck at the proper title, that will need to be moved, but I don't know what its accepted common name is. Either way, this will need assistance from an admin to delete the redirect at Sumatran Serow once the subspecies has been moved so that this article can be moved there. I would prefer to take a broader look at all of Artiodactyla before I start moving articles, which is why I am avoiding all Artiodactyla articles at the moment.
